This Abuse Policy ("Policy") sets out the standards of acceptable conduct on the Unrive platform and defines the types of behaviour that constitute abuse, misuse, or violations of our community and operational guidelines. By accessing or using Unrive at unrive.io, you agree to comply with this Policy in addition to our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy. Unrive is committed to maintaining a safe, transparent, and trustworthy environment for all users.

1. Purpose of This Policy

The purpose of this Abuse Policy is to:

  • Define what constitutes abusive, harmful, or prohibited behaviour on the Unrive platform
  • Protect users, staff, and the integrity of our services from misuse
  • Establish clear procedures for reporting abuse and the steps Unrive will take in response
  • Ensure compliance with applicable Canadian federal law and Ontario provincial legislation governing online platforms and financial services

2. Prohibited Conduct

The following activities are strictly prohibited on the Unrive platform and may result in immediate account suspension, permanent termination, and referral to law enforcement authorities:

2.1 Financial Abuse and Fraud

  • Depositing funds obtained through illegal means, including theft, fraud, or money laundering
  • Using stolen, fraudulent, or unauthorised payment methods to fund an account
  • Attempting to manipulate trading outcomes, account balances, or withdrawal systems
  • Opening multiple accounts to circumvent platform limits, restrictions, or verification requirements
  • Submitting false or forged identity documents during the KYC verification process
  • Engaging in chargeback fraud by disputing legitimate transactions with your payment provider

2.2 Account and System Abuse

  • Attempting to gain unauthorised access to other users' accounts or platform infrastructure
  • Using automated bots, scripts, or scraping tools to interact with the platform without prior written authorisation
  • Introducing malware, viruses, or any malicious code into the platform's systems
  • Exploiting technical vulnerabilities, bugs, or errors for personal gain or to cause harm to other users
  • Disrupting platform availability through denial-of-service attacks or similar methods
  • Reverse engineering, decompiling, or attempting to extract proprietary source code or algorithms

2.3 Identity and Impersonation Abuse

  • Impersonating Unrive staff, representatives, or other users in any form of communication
  • Creating fake profiles or accounts using another person's identity or personal information
  • Using a third party's personal or financial information without their explicit consent
  • Misrepresenting your identity, location, or eligibility to access the platform

2.4 Communication Abuse

  • Sending spam, unsolicited promotional messages, or phishing communications to other users or staff
  • Harassing, threatening, intimidating, or abusing Unrive support staff or other users
  • Spreading false, misleading, or defamatory information about Unrive, its staff, or its services
  • Using offensive, discriminatory, or hate-based language in any communication with the platform
  • Attempting to manipulate or coerce support staff into violating platform policies

2.5 Regulatory and Legal Violations

  • Using the platform in any jurisdiction where doing so is prohibited under local, national, or international law
  • Engaging in any activity that violates Canadian anti-money laundering (AML) legislation, including the Proceeds of Crime (Money Laundering) and Terrorist Financing Act (PCMLTFA) and applicable FINTRAC reporting requirements
  • Using Unrive to facilitate transactions connected to terrorism, sanctions evasion, or organised crime
  • Violating any applicable securities laws, financial regulations, or consumer protection statutes under Canadian or Ontario law

3. Reporting Abuse

Unrive takes all reports of abuse seriously. If you witness or experience any behaviour that violates this Policy, we encourage you to report it promptly through the following channels:

  • Support portal: submit a report directly through your Unrive account dashboard

All abuse reports are handled with strict confidentiality. The identity of the reporting user will not be disclosed to the subject of the report unless required by law.

4. Investigation Process

Upon receiving an abuse report or identifying suspicious activity through our internal monitoring systems, Unrive will:

  • Acknowledge receipt of the report within 2 business days
  • Conduct a thorough and impartial internal investigation
  • Apply interim protective measures where necessary, including temporary account restrictions
  • Communicate findings and any actions taken to the reporting party where appropriate
  • Complete the investigation within 10 business days for standard cases, or longer for complex matters requiring regulatory involvement

Unrive reserves the right to request additional information from any party involved in an investigation. Failure to cooperate may result in account suspension.

5. Consequences of Abuse

Depending on the nature, severity, and frequency of the violation, Unrive may take one or more of the following actions:

  • Warning: a formal written notice issued to the user's registered email address
  • Temporary suspension: restriction of account access for a defined period pending investigation
  • Permanent termination: irreversible closure of the account with forfeiture of any outstanding benefits or bonuses
  • Fund withholding: freezing of account balances pending compliance review or legal proceedings
  • Legal action: referral of the matter to relevant law enforcement agencies, financial regulators, or legal counsel
  • Regulatory reporting: mandatory disclosure of suspicious activity to FINTRAC, the RCMP, or other applicable Canadian authorities

Unrive will not provide refunds or compensation to users whose accounts are terminated due to verified abuse or policy violations.

6. Zero Tolerance for Financial Crime

Unrive maintains a zero-tolerance policy toward money laundering, terrorist financing, fraud, and all forms of financial crime. We actively monitor platform activity using automated detection systems and conduct regular manual reviews. All suspicious activity is reported to the appropriate regulatory bodies in compliance with Canadian federal law, including:

  • The Financial Transactions and Reports Analysis Centre of Canada (FINTRAC)
  • The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP)
  • The Financial Consumer Agency of Canada (FCAC)
  • The Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) and other applicable provincial regulators

7. Protection Against Retaliation

Unrive strictly prohibits retaliation against any user who reports abuse in good faith. Any user found to be retaliating against a reporting party — through harassment, threats, false counter-reports, or any other means — will be subject to immediate account termination and potential legal action. We are fully committed to ensuring that all users feel secure in reporting concerns without fear of adverse consequences.

8. Abuse of Support Services

Our customer support team is dedicated to providing professional, timely assistance to all Unrive users. The following behaviours directed at support staff are considered abuse and will not be tolerated:

  • Using threatening, abusive, or discriminatory language
  • Submitting repeated, frivolous, or bad-faith support requests designed to waste resources
  • Attempting to manipulate, coerce, or deceive support agents into violating platform policies
  • Recording or publishing support interactions without prior written consent

Unrive reserves the right to limit or terminate support access for users who repeatedly abuse our support services.

9. Third-Party Abuse Involving Unrive

If you become aware of any third party misusing the Unrive name, brand, or identity — including phishing websites, impersonation scams, or unauthorised use of our trademarks — please report it immediately to [email protected]. We take brand abuse seriously and will pursue appropriate legal action to protect our users and our reputation.

10. Updates to This Policy

Unrive reserves the right to update or amend this Abuse Policy at any time to reflect changes in our services, technology, or applicable legal requirements. Material changes will be communicated to users via email or a prominent notice on the platform at least 7 days before taking effect. Continued use of the platform following any update constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.
